Round up other students to get started!

First off, you'll need to round yourself up a group of other students who wanna be a part of starting a YCI Outreach club at your school. It's easy to start a YCI club by yourself, but you never know what gifts, abilities, ideas, and resources a friend might be able to offer. These friends could be student leaders alongside of you.

Have each servant-leader fill-out and submit a Club Member Registration Form.

- Teacher Sponsor

OK, so the next step is to find a teacher at your school who would be willing to serve as the "Teacher Sponsor". The school system requires that someone who works for them be a "sponsor" of the club. Basically, the Teacher Sponsor is there to help you make sure your club has a room to meet in and they also help make sure that the YCI club isn't violating school policies or state laws.

- Campus Pastor(s)

You will need to secure a youth worker to serve as your Campus Pastor. Clubs without a Campus Pastor tend to be weaker clubs, and some don't last long at all.
Start by asking God to send you a Campus Pastor -- the right Campus Pastor. Then, ask your youth pastor. If he or she will not serve, ask the youth pastor of one of the other student leaders. If you can't find a youth worker to serve as a campus pastor, don't stop looking or praying. If you need a Campus Pastor and have tried and not yet found one, please email Erica Lee and let her know you are in need of a Campus Pastor. From time-to-time we come across youth workers looking for a school to be plugged-into.

- Select Meeting Day

As a leadership team, you will want to determine a day and time your club will meet, and the meeting location. It can be any day during the schoolweek, but the club has to meet during a non-curriculum time, i.e. a time that is either before or after school starts.

- Club Constitution

You'll need to let your school know that you intend to assemble as a club. On the Club Resources page, in the forms area, there is a Club Charter/Constitution. You will need to print this document, fill-in your school's name in the blank, and submit this to your principal. This is actually a legal document.

That's it! You can start meeting!

We think it's awesome that you want to take the initiative to get one going at your school!

Starting a YCI club is fun and exciting. First, make sure a club doesn't already exist at your school (double-check because they're not always called YCI clubs - check the YCI Club List).

Once you are ready to start a YCI club at your school, contact us and let us know your intent. We can help provide you with all the tools you will need to get you started, and can even provide a training session for your leadership team.

In the meantime, check out the list to the right to see how easy it is to get a club at your school.
